Basically, we are going to do a World Cup article, to go up on the 13th of this month that will take a look at 4 World Cup "stars" that you wouldn't necessarily think of:
For your World Cup Team on Fantasy XT:
1. Faryd Mondragon - Colombia
Along with Mario Yepes, Mondragon is the only surviving player of that great 1990's Colombia Team still playing with the current 2010's generation of Colombia. Not surprisingly, Mondragon will be the oldest keeper to play at this year's World Cup in Brazil.
Mondragon's and Colombia's last World Cup was France '98. Colombia featured in only the first round in a group that included England. Mondragon, made some fantastic saves and the great German Franz Beckenbauer said "Mondragon was the best player of the first round". There's praise.
This is because Faryd pulled off many great saves.
2. Aaron Hunt - Germany
Not one of the usual suspects, Aaron Hunt will be part of the Germany party in Brazil none the less. Not much can be said about Hunt only that he is eligible to play for Germany and England. But, sorry England, he's a German International.
Aaron Hunt really only came to prominence when in 2006, he was charged with making racist remarks when playing an under - 21 game against, who else: England.
3. Raheem Sterling - England
Anyone who watches the English Premier League like myself will know of Raheem Sterling. The Liverpool man will be making his World Cup debut this Summer in Brazil. I expect Roy Hodgson to play Sterling as much as he can because England could very well he going out of the World Cup at the group stages.
A Theo Walcott of the 2002 World Cup. Opposition teams will be dreading the thought of facing Sterling running at them for goals.
4. Javier Hernandez - Mexico
This is Hernandez' chance to put himself in the shop window. "I hear United fans saying wait, hold on there now" But, let's face it, van Gaal doesn't see Hernandez as part of his plans for next season. Inter Milan have been sniffing around and will be looking to do a deal for the Mexican.
So, this World Cup is pivotal for Chicharito to put himself in the shop window. His last World Cup was the 2006 Germany, which seen good performances and a move to Old Trafford.
Will Hernandez move, you bet your ass he'll move.
